Just this month my carrier sent out an information screen pop-up saying my galaxy s4 needed an update to the software which would take 13 minutes.
After this update many working applications I was using no longer function properly and I noticed reduced service in areas I previously had better service. I would like to return the phone to the way it came from Samsung when purchased and to shut off upgrade notifications from the carrier. My phone was working as I wanted until their software update. I recently reset my phone -did the factory reset- however I’m not sure if I also formatted the catche as well, because my phone was a bit jammed when trying to do it. My question is, after I rebooted my device when turning it on the ” Samsung galaxy ” phrase which had always showed was no longer there and instead just an ” android ” phrase was there. Everything else in the phone is okay.
Do you know if this is part of the factory reset? Or did i delete the catche? If so how do i get it back.
Hi- somewhat newbie here.I am posting here because it is the closest I've found to my problem. I'll do my best to explain. I have a samsung galaxy SIII.I had been using pattern lock and was very happy doing so. I began to wonder whether or not I would remember the PIN I had set up.

I wanted to update my pattern (which I had successfully done before) and verify my PIN. I seem to have gone down a very wrong path. What I wanted to was change my PIN, somehow I created a password and now can't figure out how to get back to using a pattern lock.I first accidentally created a password thinking that I was creating a new one since I had already entered my phone using the pattern. I ended up creating a password that for some reason replaced/disabled my pattern. To fix this I've done what the forums say to do to change the lock type, but no luck. Here are my results:Go to settinglock screen, I click on screen lock (secured witih password), clicking there it asks me for my password, I enter my password and it takes me to a screen that is all greyed out except for Password/high security.
I can't choose anything but Password/high security. Clicking on that Password option takes me back to a screen that says 'select a password'.So, I now know how to change my password. But, what I want to do is get back to a pattern lock.I checked for VPN setting and none shows up.thanks for any help and for being patient. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. Today I thought I would experiment with adding a password.
No problem setting one, but I am finding it a real pain. So I decided to disable it.
And I cannot. When I go into settings, and then into screen lock settings, I get only three choices. I can have a pattern, I can have a pin or I can have a password. The options of swipe and none are both greyed out. Is there any way to get them ungreyed out so I can enable swipe only? I tried rebooting the phone and that did nothing. I have changed the password 3 times and now have it set to a pattern, but I would prefer none.
